ATM NYC Series

I was advised by my supervisor and HODs to go with this idea and scrap all my other work. This removes the performer's body completely, I put an email address within the underwear on a tissue for anyone to write to me. The words "share" and "exchange" refer to both the sexual act and the taboo actions of getting money out of the ATM, both private actions. Putting money in and out of machines and taking a tissue out of women's underwear is a provocative action also referencing stripping and consuming/eating. It also looks like a period pad. The words are also asking for someone to email me, so there is the implication of contact exchange, anonymous online sharing, perhaps even dating. Perhaps the work implies sexual violence, abuse or soliciting; sex work. Whether someone emails or not has yet to be seen and what will be shared or exchanged also. Will this create a dialogue or go nowhere? I put these in ATMs around New York City at New years 2013. It can be done anywhere in the world and feels very perverted, like I am a criminal breaking the law. A protester, a feminist guerilla actionist. It is a performance in itself. If there is exchange it will be a miracle.
